Beading Activity Club

A beading Design Club dedicated to sharing & promoting creative contemporary ideas with diverse techniques to create beautiful pieces of artwork using various types of beads for jewelry creation.

Location: Boston Market Café – 1720 Guess Road – Northgate Mall – I85 & Gregson

Yearly membership fee $35.00 

 

Calendar of Events

 

Members of Bull City Beaders supply their own materials for the monthly projects, which are listed on the club’s webpage  in advance, in order to participate in the project IF you choose.   Kits maybe available on rare occasions, at the seller cost.

we will have an open session, were members can bring their projects that you’re working on and get some advice if needed on how to complete their projects. I can’t guarantee that someone with enough experience in a certain technique can assist you. So we sit and socialize while taking some time out of our busy schedules to work on some of our unfinished projects.

 

 

June 12th 2010

 –Square Stitch project

Pattern #1

20grams of Japanese cut size 8/0 seed beads in cylinder or hex shape would work best – one/two, colors or a multi-color beads of your choice (main color)

3grams of Japanese cut size 11/0 seed beads or size 9/0 3-cut seed beads (accent color)

1 1/2inch or small flat button

Size D nylon thread with conditioner or 6-lb braided beading thread-Fireline

Size 10 beading needle, beading mat, Scissors, measuring tape

Pattern #2

20grams of Japanese cut size 8/0 seed beads in cylinder or hex shape would work best – one/two, colors or a multi-color beads of your choice

18+ large hole 4-6mm Czech beads or 3mm cubes

1 1/2inch or small flat button

Size D nylon thread with conditioner   or 6-lb braided beading thread-Fireline

Size 10 beading needle, beading mat, Scissors, measuring tape

 

 

July 10th 2010

 – Stringing with a twist: Masculine Jewelry designs

 

Suggested supply list: various shape & sizes of washers nuts & bolts, bone, shark, hematite beads, standard stringing materials with tools, or leather cord, metal – chain maille design

 

September 11th 2010

 – Masculine Jewelry designs completion

 

 

October 9th 2010

 – Netting stitch Basics /Christmas decoration

 

For netting : 20grams of Japanese cut size 8/0 seed beads in round or hex shape would work best – one/two, colors beads of your choice

Size D nylon thread or 6-lb braided beading thread-Fireline

Size 10 beading needle, beading mat, Scissors, measuring tape

Size 2 bugles, 4mm crystals, Czech glass beads maybe required

 

November 13th 2010

 – Netting stitch project completion

 

December 11

 – Social gathering

 

Tips to enhance your beading experinces :-)

 

Bull City Beaders only meets once a month, so it's highly suggested that you look into other resources to assist you with your immediate needs the local bead stores how-to classes or private sessions in your area. Along with other beading clubs   The Internet offers a lot of free instructions as well as video instructions on various bead weaving stitches.

If your new to the beading world, just getting starting or new to a beading technique and don’t fully understand the supply list…..PLEASE copy the supply list and take it with you to your local bead store and they will assist you in getting the correct supplies for the upcoming project or class. 

 

 Also before your club meeting or class search the Internet to learn more about the beading technique: www.google.com – example: Peyote Stitch instructions, you will find some wonderful free how-to instructions & patterns as well as links to video demos.
